Wohlsen Construction was founded in Lancaster in 1890 and recently celebrated its 125th anniversary. Part of the celebration included underwriting the cost of The Wohlsen Construction Company Large-Format Digitization Project at Franklin & Marshall College.

The project came about by the donation of Company historical materials dating back to its founding. The majority of the materials date from 1890 to the mid-1960s, and include hand-written ledgers, project photo albums and individual photos, as well as project files including thousands of blueprints for numerous construction projects located throughout Lancaster County and beyond.

In addition to scanning, archiving and cataloging the Wohlsen Construction Company materials, the large-format digitization equipment has been utilized by several local community-based institutions including Millersville University and the Lancaster Theological Seminary.

Archived materials from the Wohlsen collection are utilized by Franklin & Marshall professors as part of their curriculum for American Studies and Art & Art History courses, as well as Senior Seminars.
