Posted in: Awards on April 22, 2014

Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County has selected Wohlsen Construction to receive Goodwill’s Workforce Partnership Award as Employer of the Year. The award will be presented at Goodwill’s Inspiration Awards Luncheon to be held on Friday, May 2nd at the Chase Center on the Riverfront.

The Goodwill Workforce Partnership Award is given to a business, company or organization that has supported the mission of Goodwill and has offered training, employment or job placements. Wohlsen Construction—with offices in New Castle, Delaware, Lancaster and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Baltimore, Maryland and Parsippany, New Jersey—is a leading provider of construction services in the region. Wohlsen is being recognized for its support of the construction labor and site cleanup businesses that are part of Goodwill’s Industrial Services division.

Over the last two years, Wohlsen has contracted Goodwill to provide general construction labor and site cleanup services at several sites including Chestnut Hill Hospital in Philadelphia, the Christiana Care Health Center in Concord Township, Pennsylvania, the Hearth at Drexel in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania and the new Community Education Building in Wilmington, Delaware. The work completed for Wohlsen has employed a team of 12 to 18 employees and has generated over $150,000 in revenue to Goodwill.

“An organization like Wohlsen, which has been around for over 100 years, knows the value of a reliable vendor that can help provide performance-based services to complete a job on-time and on-budget,” said Jeff Haggerty, director of Goodwill’s Industrial Services division. “The partnership between Goodwill and Wohlsen has enabled the construction company to provide the highest level of quality and service to their customers and for Goodwill to serve its mission by employing people with barriers to self-sufficiency through the “Power of Work.”

For over 90 years, Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County’s mission has been to improve the quality of life for people with barriers to self-sufficiency through the Power of Work. In 2013, Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County provided nearly 45,000 services to individuals throughout the region and helped over 500 individuals connect to employment.
