Wohlsen Projects Receive Green Building Awards

Wohlsen Construction Company was honored with two green building awards from the USGBC Central PA Chapter at the association’s annual dinner and awards program.

Receiving the Renewable Energy Project of the Year award was the Gettysburg Energy & Nutrient Recovery Facility, located in York Springs, PA.  The project was constructed for Energy Works and was designed by Lewis and Associates Architects.  The new facility uses gasification technology to transform egg layer manure into renewable energy and mineral byproducts.

The Middletown Distribution Center constructed for Johnson Controls received the Industrial/Manufacturing/Warehouse Project of the Year award.  Becker Morgan Group served as the architect for the new 422,000 square foot, LEED Certified wet cell automobile battery manufacturing and distribution center which was designed and constructed in six months.

Wohlsen Construction Company, a Green Plus certified company, was founded in 1890 and is one of the leading merit shop construction firms in the Mid-Atlantic States.
