Project Description
General contracting services to expand high school located on a busy, occupied campus include:
Phase I
- removal of an existing parking lot
- gutting the ninth grade building and converting it to a math and science wing
- fresh coat of paint on the lockers
Phase II – Connecting the existing high school and new math and science wings to provide new areas for the following:
- music wing
- administration wing
- new 600-seat cafeteria
- 14,000 square foot library/media center
- new 2,000-seat gymnasium
- interconnecting corridors
- renovations to three distinct areas of the existing classroom space in the high school building.
- covered walkway over the school drive
- outdoor courtyard
Phase III – Renovations to the existing high school which included:
- converting existing cafeteria and kitchen into a technical education area including wood shop and a computer lab,
- existing gymnasium was renovated and retained for additional activities
- new terrazzo floors and ceiling tile
- a fresh coat of paint on the lockers
- replacement of the majority of the wall tile
- existing auditorium was revamped with new light and sound systems and three new rows of seats.
Also included in scope of this project was the construction of a two-tier parking garage.
Construction activities were performed while maintaining the on-going operations of the school which accommodates over 1,700 9th – 12th graders and various extra circular activities. The Project Team’s hard work and dedication to maintaining the schedule paid off when the project was turned over to the School District two months ahead of schedule.
