Project Description
Preconstruction and construction management services for the restoration of the historic Burke House. Built in 1824, the house was home to prominent local official and businessman, Silas Burke. The restored house now provides space for community gatherings and school groups.
The restoration work included:
- Relocation of the historic post office
- Asbestos abatement and lead paint removal
- Structural work including new basement footings
- HVAC and electrical improvements
- New wainscoting
- Interior wall and floor repair
- Wall trim and doorway thresholds
- New finishes and wall coverings
- Front and back porch repairs including new railing, steps, and lattice
- Removal and replacement of siding and roof
The house and its property is located on the site of Sunrise Senior Living at Silas Burke, a Wohlsen-constructed senior living facility.
